Your role
This is what you will do:
The Injectable Drug Product Development Intern is responsible for supporting the development and optimization of formulation, manufacturing processes and /or characterization for Alexion’s therapeutic protein candidates. You will learn and apply skills related to product and process characterization by collaborating with other engineers and scientists in the Injectable Drug Product Development team.
You will be responsible for:
Working with engineers/scientists to support the characterization of biological products. Activities may include:
Developing and executing studies in the lab to characterize proteins or nucleic acid products.
Learning a variety of analytical techniques (e.g. UPLC, imaged capillary electrophoresis, micro-flow imaging, light obscuration) and biophysical methods (e.g. differential scanning calorimetry, light scattering).
Performing data analysis and preparing presentations for meetings.
Developing and executing studies characterizing process parameters in small-scale unit operations
Understanding key activities associated with drug product development.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams which can include device development, analytical development, and drug substance team.

Understanding/coursework in the fundamentals of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Must be actively enrolled in an accredited University for the duration of a co-op/internship assignment pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree.
Must be available during the full internship onsite and maintain general availability during standard business hours.
Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, internally across departments and with external stakeholders.
Complying with the Company’s quality assurance requirements as well as applicable regulatory requirements
Ability/desire to learn new techniques.
Experience with various MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
The duties of this role are generally conducted in a lab environment.
