Job Description

The Investment Associate, Social Enterprises will be responsible for supporting Kiva´Social Enterprise team, which sits within the Impact Investments team, with investment due diligence, financial analysis, and performance monitoring of social enterprises globally. This is an early career opportunity focused on business evaluation and diligence, new investee onboarding, monitoring, and supporting our extensive network of social enterprise lending partners and investees.

The Investment Associate will report to a Kiva Senior Investment Manager and collaborate closely with other members of the Impact Investments team. This role will facilitate support to our portfolio of social enterprises to ensure compliance with Kiva’s policies and the effective and efficient use of Kiva’s systems.

Responsibilities

Conducted due diligence for new prospective investments, prepare and write up credit memos, and support investment managers’ presentation of information to the investment committee. Monitor performance metrics of assigned Partners and Investees in collaboration with Investment Managers. Input Partner and Investee financials and risk metrics into standardized templates, follow up with partners to resolve any issues, and review financial analysis outputs. Monitor Partners' compliance with general Kiva policies. Support investment managers in preparing for onsite due diligence and monitoring visits. Participate in update calls with Partners and Investees. Manage onboarding and training of new Partners and Investees to Kiva systems, including creating Kiva.org fundraising campaign profiles. Manage and maintain up-to-date documentation related to Partners and Investees in Kiva’s various systems. Answer questions and issues by Partners that are escalated by the Credit Operations team in using Kiva systems and tools. Communicate Kiva policies to Partners and update Partners on new developments at Kiva. Support Investment Managers in addressing operational challenges that arise with specific Partnerships.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in investment management, commercial lending, financial analysis, or a related field involving credit risk evaluation and business assessment. Proven experience in financial statements analysis. Ability to manage time well and prioritize across competing tasks. Flexible and willing to maintain a dynamic schedule with the ability to align availability to overlap with business hours in both Pacific Standard Time (PST) and Africa time zones, including early morning or evening calls as needed. Able to travel occasionally and to adapt to various international work environments. Effective while working remotely. Strong communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to tailor communications to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders across multiple cultures. Tech savvy. High level of proficiency in Microsoft and/or Google Suite office software, and adept at learning and using technology platforms. Spanish or French language proficiency or fluency a big plus. Must have legal authorization to work in Kenya or Colombia where the role is based; Kiva is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
