The Planning and Inventory Control Manager has responsibility to provide results driven leadership for scheduling, planning, and inventory functions and teams to ensure effective production schedules, adequate inventories, and timely delivery of product. This role works with Sales and Business Development teams to develop and manage forecast for long range material planning while considering current inventory, obsolescence, lead times, product life cycles and production capacity.
Responsibilities
- Manage the planning and establishment of production schedules, and review factors that impact schedules.
- Coordinate production schedule with departments involved in the process to meet scheduled ship dates, production efficiencies, and inventory levels.
- May release orders to production to ensure efficient and timely delivery to customer.
- Communicates with team members on issues that may impact timely delivery of product.
- Assist with expediting materials and solving issues with material shortages.
- Develop capacity plan analysis to match sales forecasts and fully utilize capacity during slower periods.
- Analyze impacts for potential schedule changes.
- Monitor and schedule for production stock items as required.
- Provide direction on inventory issues, and keep appropriate staff informed of issues or concerns. (Including monitoring inventory transaction to ensure system accuracy.)
- Maintains effective processes and procedures for the operation of the department.
- Optimize movement and storage of materials throughout the facility.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely transfer and delivery of raw and finished goods to support and serve manufacturing.
- Provide reports and analysis to monitor and measure effectiveness of scheduling and inventory management practices.
- Lead or support department improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate efforts to ensure proper safety and ergonomics standards and guidelines are met in work area.
- Delegate appropriate responsibilities and assignments to team members.
- Assure staffing requirements are met.
- Encourage team member growth and development.
- Administer team member performance reviews, goal setting, and participate in salary planning.
Qualifications
Associate degree in business or technical field. Minimum 5 years related experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership skills. Strong knowledge of inventory and manufacturing requirements and procedures. Problem-solving abilities. Ability to identify waste and creatively look for solutions. Knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II) is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.
